Recycling GiftsHave you ever reused a gift? Some like to call it regifting. I like to call it reusing. It’s really an environmental movement waiting to happen. Is there really a point in letting things sit and collect dust when you could donate it to charity instead?

Day 330: Give 330

How many charity events have you been to that have a silent auction. Pretty much every event I have produce adds some kind of auction element. Beg, borrowing and pleading for donations is always a challenge.

This past Christmas I was given a lovely present – a gift certificate to get my hair done. It is now September and I still had not used it. The salon isn’t close to my home and I have a regular place I like to go to. This gift certificate was collecting dust in my office drawer until recently when I decided to reuse it for good.

One of my favourite not for profit organizations, Atkin Afrika was having a fundraising event and I was inspired to reuse my gift as aChild from the Streets of Lira Uganda donation. It would be packaged with some other donations to make a great silent auction item.

I didn’t need the item but the charity does – they are saving the lives of young boys from the streets of Lira, Uganda. Who do you think needs it more? It was an easy decision for me. Regift for good! I see a new blog just on this topic! Save the planet and save the people suffering in our world!

Have you got a gift collecting dust you can regift as a give?
