“I expect to pass through this world but once; any good thing therefore that I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now; let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.” Ettiene De Grellet
I did it! I made it through the Random Acts of Kindness Extreme Challenge Week. Not only was every task possible to incorporate into my day but it made giving easy. I woke up every morning and there it was – my GIVE of the day. Like a little gift ready to go and all I had to do is take a few minutes out of my day to get it done. In some cases I didn’t have to take any time as I could just add it in to my life as I was out and about.
Today’s Act of Kindness is perfect for me as I really wanted to do something for my lovely neighbours and this will get me motivated to thank them and recognize their kindness towards us.
Day 145: Give 145
We have only lived in our most recent home for just over a year. I always wonder when you move to a new place what your neighbours will be like. It’s the one thing you can’t test out before we move. In our last home we had lovely neighbours on all sides of us and we had made great friends with many of them. We were sad to leave for this reason. At our new home we have a glorious view of the ocean with a big deck off the back of our house almost the same height and length as our neighbours. We are close enough that we can toast each other and chat while we are both enjoying dinner outside in the summer months.
Lucky us, we happen to have absolutely lovely neighbours. They are so kind and gracious. Our first Christmas here we received a gift of homemade preserves on our door step. For Halloween it was treats for my son and this year for Christmas fresh homemade cookies. How lucky are we. I love chatting over the fence as we both have a passion for our gardens and the conversation flow easily and effortlessly. I know if I ever needed anything I could knock on their door and they would welcome us with open arms. Not everyone can say that about their neighbours in this day and age.
So today I will take the time to bring them something I know they will enjoy. A hand made card by my son and a nice bottle of wine they will enjoy this summer as we each have dinner on our decks watching the cargo ships going buy.
A big cheer to Random Acts of Kindness Week for motivating me to GIVE in new ways I may not have thought of. Thank you for encouraging me to spread the word of being kind, generous and giving to as many people as I can. Just because Random Acts of Kindness week is over it doesn’t mean we have to stop giving. There are so many simple ways we can give back in our lives. You can check in here every day as I still have 220 days to of giving to complete or you can be inspired by Random Acts of Kindness every day of the year.
Keep giving, be kind to everyone you meet and do something today. Don’t wait, don’t put it off, today is the day to start giving.
